O'Donovan and Dole is a traditional boat shop in Belfast, Maine. John and Patrick originally hosted their website with a proprietary service that caused no end of headaches. The service came with third-party ads that watered down their message and cluttered up the display. Their frustrations eventually led them to seek an alternative that would be easier to work with and more reflective of their work and approach.

John and Patrick came to ArtistConk with a rough idea of the website they wanted. Through a collaborative effort we arrived at the current design and structure. The main element of the website is the project galleries that document and describe their work.

On the back end, everything was built to be as simple and streamlined as possible. John and Patrick can batch upload photos from their latest project, arrange them with a drag-and-drop interface, and the rest takes care of itself. Upon submitting new gallery content, the current project on the front page is automatically updated, the "Projects" page is automatically updated to reflect the addition of a new gallery, and the gallery display is automatically formatted to match the rest of the site.

By tapping into Drupal's powerful data management capabilities, John and Patrick can update their own website in a way that enables them to effectively and efficiently communicate their work to future clients. They also have more time to focus on the work they love - building wooden boats.
