Website Overhaul Complete
It's been a long time in the making, but I finally have a Drupal website that feels like a good fit! I remember designing my very first HTML website back in 2006, and then how overwhelmed I felt when I first started dabbling in Drupal. To think that in just a handful of years I've reinvented myself as a website developer...
It hasn't been an easy road, but as someone who thrives on solving puzzles, I enjoy how website development keeps me on my toes and always on the hunt for that next breakthrough. Seems there's always a better way to build websites. I'm sure in a month's time (or maybe less) I'll want to completely rebuild everything I've created up to now, but such is the life of the curious developer.
Small as it is, this site employs 42+ contributed modules. I guess that's not too bad all told, but I think with a bit of consolidation I could bring that number down considerably. What's not captured in that number (42) is all of the time spent learning and evaluating modules to arrive at this precise configuration. Time well-spent.
Coming up in another couple of weeks I'll be debuting a new website for the Granite Creek Watershed Improvement Council that features interactive maps and dynamic data displays. I'm very much looking forward to rolling that out. A bit further down the line (maybe a month), I'll be going live with a seriously complex website for Prescott Creeks. This will be their new organizational website, and it's going to include lots of user-interactive awesomeness.
I haven't yet chosen an arc for the presentations on this website, but my plan is to post a few road markers from my personal learning adventures. And maybe I'll eventually have a catch-phrase to enable an oh-so-cool (yet nerdy) sign-off.
